| Guadalajara
and Guanajuato During the Christmas holiday of 2008, I went to two cities in the southern central highlands of Mexico. The weather was perfect, the people were incredibly friendly, and the food was excellent. Both of these cities have a lot of old colonial buildings, colorful and exciting markets, and lots and lots of people out walking around, including many tourists, most of whom were Mexican. I think the fact that it was the holiday added to the number of visitors that were there. Each night of the trip there were many families out strolling around, eating snacks, and generally enjoying each other's company. It was fun, and I'd love to go back to that region. There are many more colonial towns to explore. Click here for a map of Mexico, showing the location of Guadalajara and Guanajuato. As usual, I took way more pictures than anyone would want to look at. I selected 108 pictures for this site.
